You need to eat in order to lose weight!
This may be one of the biggest misconceptions out there that not eating equates to overall weight loss.
Unfortunately though… Or fortunately, that isn’t the case.
The more small frequent meals that you eat the more your metabolism increases and your internal basal metabolism increases producing more heat and energy output to help your body and endocrine system metabolize and process this food.
Overall = More output of energy throughout the day.
Your body has two main states. A positive nitrogen state (known as an anabolic state) or a negative nitrogen state (know as an anabolic state).
The key for fat loss and muscle gain is keeping your body in a positive nitrogen balance which is the key environment for it to burn fat and build muscle.
To do this you need to be willing to fuel it with nutrients frequently to allow for it to be able to utilize them effectively and not going too long without eating.
The longer you go without eating your body starts to hold onto body fat as a source of insulation and burn muscle as a source of fuel.
We want this the other way… We want it to burn more body fat by raising internal temperature and hold onto more muscle mass.
Without going into too much detail scientifically… (That will be the next blog)
Keep it simple – Eat frequent, eat small meals and keep the metabolic furnace roaring.
Fuel your body, build muscle and burn body fat !
